Bible Study: Pathway of Praise

Sacrifice of Praise

Hebrews 13: 10-15 refers to
praise as a sacrifice. We
often need to “kill” our pride, fear or laziness, that keeps us away from the Lord. We need to keep our focus on Jesus and His love gift of life to us.
Then…
Praise brings His Presence
Psalm 22:3 God’s rule and
presence may be invited
into the midst of any
situation by means of praise.

Bible Study: Victories in Praise

The N. T tells how Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown into prison after the healing of the slave girl.

They responded by singing hymns of praise while other prisoners listened.

At midnight there was a great earthquake, doors flew open and chains fell off the prisoners.

The gaoler was converted, his household saved and satanic captivity. overthrown.

Even today, praise will cause chains of bondage to drop away.
Praise triumphs gloriously!

Devotions: Praise Victories

The O. T. has a great example of the power of praise.

Judah was surrounded by mortal enemies.

The king and people called to God in prayer
Then came the word of the prophet, ”Do not be afraid... for the battle is not yours but God’s”

As they went out to battle they were lead by a choir praising the Lord with voices loud and high saying “Praise the Lord for His mercy lasts forever.”

At this the enemy attacked itself and the result – Victory
2 Chronicles 20

Sunday School: Family Praise

The Lord inhabits our praises. So the mighty God “lives in or dwells in” us – manifests himself as we praise.

A Methodist Army chaplain Merlin Carothers discovered this truth
following World war 2 when telling his men of the reality of God’s presence.

Many were at the end of their resources with alcohol, marriage and
financial problems.

He told of praising God in all situations bringing God’s amazing intervention.
Once his caravan overturned dragging the car and spilling the family possessions down an embankment.

Merlin’s praise response in the midst of the debris shocked the policeman who was amazed that they were not injured.

Merlin’s 20 year old daughter exclaimed “Really, Dad you are too much, but I do love you.”
The blessing?
The next day they were on the road with an identical station wagon and insurance money to cover the caravan costs

This time all the family united to praise God.

Bible Study: A Praise Intro

Praise be to you, O Lord God ... from everlasting to everlasting.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
For everything in heaven and earth is yours…..

Now, our God we give you thanks and praise your glorious name.

Devotions: Praise Draws God

Praise unlocks heaven’s portals;
Praise causes doubts to cease;
Praise brings precious blessings;
Praise leaves the sweetest peace.

Praise breaks all bands asunder;
Praise sets the captives free;
Praise lightens every burden;
Praise is the master key.

Praise changes circumstances;
Praise establishes the heart;
When praise becomes perpetual,
Praise is a Holy Art.

Sunday School: Testimony

My daughter developed post-natal depression after the birth of her first child.
She phoned, distressed and frightened that she would hurt the baby she loved.
As a new Christian I prayed all the way to her home, “Lord give me the right words.” My husband went to fetch the minister and I held my girl and began to pray.
To my surprise the prayer was the most glorious praise to the Lord, sweet and deep.
This prayer then became strong and forceful and we felt that we were being held safely, as in a cocoon.
We cried and laughed.
My daughter said, “I have never felt any thing like that before Mum.”
Neither had I. Praise God!
The minister then led Jenny quietly to the Lord.
God had answered my prayer.

Devotions: A God Connection

Making the God connection
This connection can be broken by doubt, neglect and sin.

Faith, prayer and the reading of God’s word maintains the link.

The Communion Service is also a powerful opportunity
to restate our faith
to establish our direction with Him,
to make a claim on
the Holy Spirit’s
resources for our
spirit, soul and body.

Our spiritual life is meant to grow, enrich and bless our every day life in spirit, soul and body.
The more we grow in faith the more His Presence grows in power in our life.

Sunday School: He Touched Me

To be real in our faith we need to be deliberate when we invite Jesus into our life.
If you have not done this – now is a good time.

This is a statement of
believing and saying taken from Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:8-10

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus.
I confess that Jesus is Lord and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.
Come into my heart, Jesus and be Lord over my life.
Now, His life in us has begun.
We make our first step in faith and we grow by faith.

Sunday School: An Enduring Friendship

Receiving new life.
- a child did it
aged 2 years 4 months
Child: Mummy I want to give my life to Jesus.

Parent:You are too young when you are older.
Child: But I want to.
Parent: I’ll explain later.

Child leaves, then
reappearing says: It’s too late I asked Jesus into my heart.
Parent:What did you say?
Child putting hands
together prayerfully:
Jesus come into my heart and play with me forever.

Parent was moved to tears by poignant simplicity but this child is still delighting in Jesus at 22 years.

Devotions: Sin Blotted Out

A Clean Slate! He “blotted it out”

For this is my blood of the new
testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. (Matthew 26:28)

Jesus death and resurrection provided for every
believer freedom from the curse of sin and death.
The O.T. sacrifice of the blood of animals was “to cover over” (atone for) or temporarily hide sin.
Under the New Covenant the blood of Jesus remitted or wiped away our sin as if it never was.
Colossians 2:14 says, “blotted it out.”
The blood of Jesus destroyed it.
Now when we confess our sins, God sees us clean.

Devotions:Her Best Academic Year

A Very Good Year
Susan is a Christian who has a real experience of the Lord, and the Holy Spirit, and His power to heal.

At age 19 while finishing first year at University she was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease, a cancer of the lymph glands.
There were cancers in the lung and chest in a secondary stage.
A lump in the neck was removed and chemotherapy for six months was required.

With a life expectancy measured in percentages and side effects to ‘chemo’ frightening, Susan, her family and church prayed and believed for healing.

Of twenty expected side effects there was almost no evidence with only some hair loss.
Long before the ‘chemo’ treatment finished medical scans were clear.
University and ’chemo’together, yet Susan had her best academic year.
Praise the Lord who did it .

Bible Study: Receive

We have only to look to Him in faith to receive His will for us. This begins the energy or life flow.
Don’t limit God by
deciding His limit to your prayers.

He says,I am the God who heals you.

The measure
of God’s love
is that
He loves
without
measure.

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
