Bible Study: Peter's Challenge

Share this with your Sunday School, Bible Study and Devotions groups.

Peter was all mixed up.
He wouldn’t stand this waiting for something to happen.
What was God’s plan?

He remembered how he had denied Jesus 3 times when Jesus was on trial.
Jesus needed him then.
He had failed his friend. How bad is that?

He wanted to show Jesus that he was a true friend so when the soldiers arrested Jesus he had cut off the soldier’s ear.

That was not good either.
Jesus had had to heal the soldier’s ear in front of everyone.

“Everything I do is wrong.” Peter thought to himself. He remembered he used to be a good fisherman.

So now he said, “I’m going fishing.”

That hadn’t even worked. A whole night fishing and not one fish. A stranger on the shore asked them how many fish they had caught. Then Peter felt worse.

The stranger told them to put their nets on the other side of the boat.
“How pointless is that.”
Peter thought but something made him do it anyway and that’s when the miracle happened.

There were so many fish in the nets that they started to break and then Peter caught on to the truth.

The stranger was Jesus and he was the reason for the miracle catch.
Peter dived in and swam ashore to welcome Jesus.
