Devotions: Naaman's for the Asking

Jesus said no prophet is well accepted in his own town.

He was speaking of himself but used the well known story of Elisha as an example.

Share this with your Devotions, Bible Study and Sunday School scholars.

Elisha healed the foreigner Naaman of leprosy.

But there were many lepers near Elisha that didn’t ask him for healing.
Elisha sent Naaman to bathe in the River Jordon.
When he obeyed he was well.

Bible Study: Elijah

Jesus compared his situation as a prophet with that of Elijah.

Share this with your Devotions, Sunday School and Bible Study group.

Jesus understood that those in the synagogue church didn’t want to believe that Jesus was from God.
Jesus said no prophet is well accepted in his own town.

That’s why Elijah the prophet went to help the widow of
Zarephath (when there were needy widows near his home)

Sunday School: Angry Mob

Let your Sunday School, Devotions and Bible Study students see the 'God energy' in this difficult situation experienced by Jesus.

Once when Jesus went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day he read the scriptures from the scroll.
It was Isaiah 61 - the prophecy of the coming Messiah.

When he finished reading he sat down and said,
“ This day this has come to pass.”
When they realised that Jesus was speaking about himself they were angry and tried to mob
him outside by forcing him to the edge of a cliff.

They wanted to push him off but they couldn’t.
Jesus walked through the crowd to safety and no one touched him
.
