Sunday School: Imprisoned

This is more of Christian told in Pilgrim's Progress for your Sunday School, Kids Club and Devotions group.

Christian and Hopeful should not have left the safety of the straight and narrow path.

Close by was Doubting Castle the giant’s home.
“You are trespassing!” said the giant, towering above them.

He grabbed them, beat them cruelly and shut them up in his dark dungeon.
“What will we do?” they asked one another when the giant had left.

They began to pray until the morning light came.

Sunday School: Doubting Castle

Share the concept of faith and doubt with your Sunday School, Devotions and Bible Study students with John Bunyan's story from Pilgrim's Progress.

“Here is a short cut,” said Christian.

The short cut was called By-Path meadow and it seemed easy.

But they lost their way and it became dark.

Weary and frightened they sat down and fell asleep.

Close by was Doubting Castle the giant’s home.

The grim and surly voice of Giant Despair wakened them.

“You are trespassing!” said the giant, towering above them.

He grabbed them, beat them cruelly and shut them up in his dark dungeon.

Devotions: God Buys Us Back

This summary prepares the young student to understand God's purpose in sending His Son. Share it in your Bible Study and Sunday School.

God’s perfect Creation was Corrupted by Adam’s sin.
God promised to send his son as a human being to be our ‘visible God’. This happened approx 4BC and our calendar has been arranged around Jesus birth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The world wide flood was a great Catastrophe as God judged Noah was the only person who obeyed God.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Noah’s descendants still disobeyed God. Instead of spreading throughout the earth they built a tall tower, Babel. They wanted to show how clever they were so God Confused them by giving them many languages.
People then spread over the earth.
Some tried to obey God and waited for his Son.

Sunday School: Faithful Taken

Share Faithful's story from Pigrims Progress with your Sunday School, Bible Study and Devotions children.

As the Christian and Faithful went through the town the people were angry because they would not take part in their wicked schemes.

The people mocked them and beat them and put them in a cage.

Then they laughed and said, “We will kill you.”

Patiently Christian and Faithful waited.

Then the people took Faithful and stoned him, after tying him to a stake.

He died a martyr’s death but they saw a chariot and horses waiting.
Faithful was taken up in a cloud, to the sound of the trumpet.

Faithful was taken to meet the King of heaven.

Sunday School:Valley of the Shadow

Here is a further stage in the story of Pilgrim's Progress for your Devotions, Bible Study or Sunday School young people.

Pilgrims Progress
Christian came to another Valley.

He knew he must go through it to reach the Heavenly City.

The path was very narrow with a deep ditch on one side.

It was so dark he could hardly see.

Christian could hear a voice saying, “Though I walk though the Valley of the Shadow of Death I will fear no evil for you are with me.”
Christian was glad.
Someone else is here in this dark Valley, someone who knows God.”

At that moment he came out of the Valley and saw another Pilgrim called Faithful, in front of him.

Devotions: After Babel Changes

The cultural chages are important for your Sunday School, Bible Study and Devotions students to understand.

Cultural Characteristics
As people scattered they took their own characteristics of height, skin and hair colour (we all have skin pigment, just more or less of it).
So tribes and nations of the world have resulted.

In the picture there is a Fijian lady and an Australian Aboriginal man.
The boy has Fijian and white Caucasian ancestry.

Cultural differences are usually lost in two or three generations of Inter breeding and strong characteristics are not so obvious.

There is only about 1% difference in the DNA of people all over the world.
Just as it says in Acts 17:26

God began by making one man.
From him came all the different people who live everywhere in the world.

Sunday School: After Babel

Here is information for the Bible Study, Sunday School and Devotions students.

Language
Noah’s descendents spread far and wide as God wanted and language groups developed.
People who lived together spoke the same language.
As a result many languages were used.

Even though there are thousands of languages today there are less than 20 language families.

And your hands made the skies.

26 They will be destroyed, but you will remain.
They will all wear out like clothes...

27 But you (God) never change.
And your life will never end.

Bible Study: Ages of Bible People

Share the information of this graph with your students at Devotions, Bible Study and Sunday School.

Ages of Famous Bible People
Can you read this graph?
Notice how the first people lived a long time.

Methuselah lived the longest - 969 years.
Even Noah lived 950 years but he was 600 years when the flood started.

After the flood no one lived as long again. Not even his son Shem.

Changes
Tremendous changes came after the flood.

Sin caused ageing, sickness and death.

Now people don’t live so long.

Scientists think damage to the ozone layer caused by the rain at the time of the flood did this.

We hear about the damaging effect of the sun from the damaged ozone layer.
So ~~ hats on!

Devotions: Mammoth

Share this interesting news with your Kids Club, Sunday School and Bible Study.

Many mammoths-large hairy elephants have been found in Alaska and Siberia
frozen and buried so quickly that their meat is still fresh today.

Some have plants and flowers still in their mouths.

This is thought to have been brought about by the start of sudden snow storms.

Devotions: Ice Age

Share this result of climate change after the flood with your Sunday School,
Devotions group and Bible Study youth.

Climate changes after the flood could have caused an ice age
www.AnswersInGenesis.org

After the flood, wind blowing over the earth (Genesis 8:1) would increase water vapour.
As the warm oceans cooled after the flood, clouds heavy with moisture would have caused fierce blizzards dropping huge amounts of snow in the colder areas.

Huge ice sheets covered parts of North America much of the British Isles, New Zealand, southern Australia and South America.

Remaining to day are ice caps of the Artic and the Antarctic, and mountain glaciers.
Also some U-shaped valleys, gravel and boulders have been left from melting ice sheets.

Bible Study: Job 38: 30

Ice Age information for your Sunday School, Kids Club and Bible Study students.

The Ice Age ~~ Job 38:30
30 The waters become hard as stone.Even the surface of the deep ocean is frozen.

There are evidences that changes occur on the earth very quickly. In Alaska, explorers have found the remains of animals which now live only in warm lands buried with forests of tall trees and lush vegetation.

Sunday School: Who do you choose?

Take this thinking to your Sunday School, Bible Study and Devotions group.

God doesn’t force us to do things.
God gives us choices or options.
The first people chose to follow Satan.
Who do you choose?

When people choose Satan - remember he comes to
steal—kill –destroy.
That’s the power he gradually works on our life if we choose him.
Jesus said, ”Now choose again.”

When people choose God ~~~
they get a ‘direct’ line to God and all he stands for…
Peace-love –health -life forever.
If you're having trouble in your life

Guess who is behind trouble? - Satan
Who would connect us to life –health—peace? - Jesus
Why don’t you try it? - Yes!

Sunday School:The Dragon Retreats

This is further story about Pigrim's battle for your Bible Study, Devotions group or Sunday School class.

The battle seemed to be lost.
But Christian quickly grabbed his sword and gave a hard thrust and the creature fell back as if he had received a deadly wound.
It made him drew back in dismay.
Then he spread his dragon’s wings and flew away.
The battle was over but Christian was bleeding.
God sent him to the Tree of Life and he pressed its leaves on all his wounds.
He was healed immediately.

Christian sat down to eat but he kept his sword close in case another enemy appeared.
