Sunday School: Joseph and Nicodemus

Share with your Sunday School, Devotion or Bible study group this brave stand taken by Nicodemus and Joseph.

Nicodemus asked Jesus, "How can a person be born again?"

He learned that God's spirit can live in a believer's heart.

Nicodemus asked for permission to bury Jesus in spite of the personal risk so we are confident of his understnding of 'being born again.'

Devotions:Nicodemus with Jesus

Share the 'Nicodemus with Jesus' experience with your Sunday School, Kids group and Bible study.

Jesus said, “Do not be surprised when I say that you must be born again.

The wind blows. You hear it and you see what it does. Yet you do not see the wind itself. You cannot tell where it comes from or where it goes. God’s Spirit is like that.”

Nicodemus thought about Jesus’ words. No one could see the Spirit.
If he believed Jesus is God’s Son and accepted his words, his heart would be changed by the Spirit of God.

Finally Jesus said tenderly, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3: 1-21

Nicodemus did change because later on he did a dangerous and bold thing for Jesus.
He was brave too

Sunday School: Nicodemus

Share this with your Sunday School, Devotions and Kids group.
Night Secrets - No one noticed….

It was quite dark at night when Nicodemus kept in the shadows of the pathway to where Jesus stayed.
Nicodemus was a rich Pharisee and Pharisees were mostly too proud to follow Jesus.
But Nicodemus was different.
He liked Jesus teaching.
He said, “Surely Jesus is very great.”

Jesus welcomed Nicodemus and the ruler said to Jesus,
“I know you are from God. No one could do the miracles you do unless God was with him.”

So Jesus replied, “Unless a person is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God,”
Nicodemus was puzzled. He asked, “How can a person be born when he is grown up?”
Can he be a baby again?”

Jesus was meaning a person could be born again in their heart—not their body.

Devotions:Eric Liddell - Always Love

Share Eric's love for children with your Sunday School, Devotions and Bible Study group.

Eric was imprisoned during the war and so were the children who were in China from other countries.
People were so crowded in the prisoner of war camps that a man only had enough space to lie down on the floor to sleep.
There was no heating or comforts to keep warm and very little food.

The children had to live with their teachers from school.

One of the boys David Mitchell who told this story said that Eric was very kind and used to make everyone feel better with his good humour and fun.

He taught the children and they had games and sports times.

Once the boys were in trouble for climbing trees.

The prison guards told Eric to punish them and they were very relieved.

Eric always showed love no matter what happened.
