The story is told of a ship battling a storm in the Atlantic Ocean.

Three days before the ocean had seemed like a beautiful picture but now the sailors were very worried.

Devotions: The Earth Shook

Jesus is Crucified

Friday morning Jesus was taken to a hill called “Calvary”.
There he was nailed onto a cross, the cross was stuck into the ground.

At noon darkness fell all over the land and lasted three hours.
At the end of that time, Jesus called, “It is finished,” and died.

The earth shook, rocks shattered and the curtain in the temple was ripped in half by unseen hands.
The Roman soldiers were afraid, and one said,
“I’m sure this man was the Son of God.”

Kids Club:Where Was Everyone?

It was a good walk at first but then the sky became black and it began to rain very hard.

The rain and the wind almost hurt your skin when it hit your face and legs.

It was very scary when the lightening flashed and no one seemed to be left on the beach.

Where was everyone?

Suddenly James could see one umbrella moving towards him.

He hoped the person would be friendly.
He crouched against the sand bank trying to keep the cold cutting wind from hurting him.
Then the owner of the umbrella said. “What are you doing here?”

It was Dad!

James was so pleased that he decided not to be sulky when Dad told him how to behave next time.
It had almost spoiled a very good holiday.

Dad said James shouldn’t throw stones with so many people around. James might hurt someone .

James was sure it was safe.
“I should be enjoying this holiday,” he thought.

Instead James was very angry.

Devotions:Strength from an Angel

After the meal Jesus and his apostles walked to a garden on the Mount of Olives.
He asked Peter, James and John to keep watch and pray but they went to sleep.

He went a distance away and prayed.
He knew he would suffer and die.

He prayed and told God he would do what God wanted.
Then an angel came and comforted him and gave him strength.

Devotions:The Feast

Jesus and his twelve disciples ate the Passover feast together.

He told them the time had come for Him to die, and one of them would tell the soldiers where He was.
The men couldn’t believe it but as soon as Jesus told Judas that he was the one, he left the dinner and went out of the room.

Jesus blessed bread and wine and told his followers to always remember Him when they ate and drank.

We now call this communion.

Sunday School:A King on a Donkey

When Jesus rode the donkey into Jerusalem the people cut branches off the palm trees and waved them excitedly.

They put their coats and branches on the ground for the donkey to walk on.

They called, “Hosannah!

They all shouted praises to God.

Sunday School:A Donkey in Jerusalem

Jesus sent two of His friends on an errand.
He told them to go into the nearby village.
They would see a young donkey tied to a fence.
He told them to untie the donkey and bring it to Him.
If anyone asked why they took the donkey, they should say, “The Lord needs it.”

Sure enough they found a donkey, just as Jesus had told them.

This was the special donkey to carry Jesus into Jerusalem.

Devotions: God's Help

When CT Studd and his wife were in China as missionaries they prayed together about their needs.

They took comfort in the scripture, 'before they call I will answer.'

When the postman came they opened all their mail eagerly without finding an answer to their need. But then there was one letter at the bottom of the sack in an unknown hand.

It read, 'I have for some reason or another received the command of God to send you a cheque for one hundred pounds.
I have never met you. I have only heard of you and that not often but God has prevented me from sleeping tonight by this command.
Why he should command me to send you this I do not know ..... you know better than I.
Anyway here it is and I do hope it will do you good.'
