Bible Study Curriculum: Samuel

The prayer experience of the boy Samuel can be very encouraging to children in Sunday school and Bible Study groups. Help your children to discover the reality of contact with God.

The Boy Who Heard God

Hannah prayed and God gave her a baby boy Samuel.
She was so happy that she gave him back to God when he was old enough.
Samuel came to live at the temple with Eli the priest.
His mother would bring him a new coat every year.
He grew in every way and learned to serve God.
One night when they were asleep God called Samuel three times.
Samuel was sure it was Eli and he went to Eli’s room.
Eli realized God was calling Samuel
Eli told Samuel to answer if God called again.
God did and Samuel said, “Speak Lord, I am listening.”
God said “One day I will punish the people of Israel because Eli allows his sons to speak evil against God.”
Samuel didn’t want to tell Eli in the morning but Eli said, “Tell me. God will do what is best.”
As Samuel grew God was with him.
Every message he gave from God came true.
The people knew that Samuel was a prophet of the Lord.
When Samuel spoke all Israel listened.
