John was a few months older than his cousin Jesus.

An angel from God spoke to Mary one day telling her she would be the mother of a special baby - God’s son.
She believed it and was glad.

Mary was to marry Joseph the carpenter. When she told Joseph about the baby he didn’t know what to think.

Then God spoke to Joseph in a dream one night and he knew it was God’s plan. God said, “Call the baby boy Jesus.”
Joseph married Mary and Jesus was their son.
