Sunday School: Eric Liddell and the War

Eric was a missionary in China at the time when there was a war between the Chinese and Japanese.

After Eric had risked his life to rescue the two men who were dying he became concerned for the safety of his wife from Scotland and two little girls. The Japanese were rounding up everyone they thought might be on the side of the Chinese.

Eric sent his wife and two little girls to Canada just in time.

Soon after he had said a sad “Good bye” Eric was taken away and put in a prisoner of war camp in Shantung, North China.

Children from other countries who lived in China with their parents were taken from the boarding school to the prisoner of war camp too.
